Do not go into this movie expecting to see “The Dark Knight–Part II.” If you do not insist on comparing this movie to its predecessor, it will stand on its own two feet and you will enjoy all two hours and forty-five minutes of Christopher Nolan goodness. You should make it a priority to see this movie on the big screen, but try to abandon any preconceived notions you may have about what you are going to watch. I shared some more of my thoughts in the video below. I am always up for a serious (or not-so-serious) discussion of a movie, so be sure to use the comment section to share your opinions and I will gladly explain why you are wrong if you think the movie sucked. Please note, if you have not actually seen the movie, you are not entitled to an opinion.

Liked it, didn’t love it. Thought JGL was the best one in the film. Really didn’t like that Alfred leaves Bruce Wayne. Alfred has never left his side in any form of the batman story up to now. He was always Bruce’s lighthouse in a storm. He stood by him during drug and alcohol abuse, varying states of mental instability and bad decisions overall. It just didn’t sit well with me.
If you ask me to compare The Dark Knight Rises to The Dark Knight, I’m going to say that The Dark Knight was a better movie. However, I still really enjoyed this film and think it’s worth seeing in the theater. I wasn’t overly thrilled to see Alfred walk away like that either, but I did think that some of the interactions between Bruce Wayne and Alfred made for some of the best scenes in the movie.
I also didn’t like how Batman/Bruce doesn’t really make the ultimate sacrifice when saving Gotham. I love you Gotham…but not that much…kind of weak for me.
I disagree on the whole “ultimate sacrifice” thing. To me, it wouldn’t make any sense for him to blow himself up if he didn’t have to. Kamikaze isn’t really Batman/Bruce Wayne’s style.
They had to get him out of town so bane couldn’t kill him.
Not to be pedantic, but Alfred’s resignation was part of the original Knightfall story arc, which is the same series that Bane breaking Batman’s spine came from.
Eva is absolutely right! Don’t mess with her, boys. She knows her stuff!
You are the pedanticest
Is that a word? I prefer to look at it as didactic rather than pedantic…
I don’t need real words!
That word looks like I might be having intercourse with a very nit-picky relative. o_0
I don’t judge
I did love the appearance of Cillian Murphy (Scarecrow) in the film. I’m still waiting for the promised sequel to Buckaroo Banzai, you know the one they flashed at the end of the movie…BB against the World Crime League. The reason i have gone off topic for a second is i think Cillian would be a perfect Bucakaroo!!!!
I’ve only seen bits and pieces of the original Buckaroo Banzai with John Lithgow. At some point I need to sit down and watch the whole thing.
The batman franchise is slowly screeching to a halt, they should create a movie that is more in keeping with the darker visions of the legends of the dark knight….I would pay to see that. And one more thing…ha
Thanks for laughing Matthew!
Eva – i totally forgot about that…touche!
