That peanut butter cup looks pretty good.
Sex and Candy was a one hit wonder that pretty much made the late 90′s more fun. Didn’t hurt anyone. Didn’t mean anything. And, most importantly, it was really easy to sing along with. Any shithead could stay on key signing this song. No parts were too high. The whole thing was right smack dab in the middle of everyone’s range. Go ahead. Sing it. Betcha sound great.
Blah blah, video and nonsensical lyrics after the jump!
Marcy Playground – Sex and Candy
Hangin’ round downtown
By myself
And I had so much time
To sit and think
About myself
And then there she was
Like double cherry pie
Yeah there she was
Like disco superfly
I smell sex and
Candy here
Who’s that lounging
In my chair
Who’s that casting
Devious stares
In my direction
Mama this surely
Is a dream
Hangin’ ’round downtown by myself
And I had too
Much caffeine
And I was thinkin’
’bout myself
And then there she was
In platform double suede
Yeah there she was
Like disco lemonade
I smell sex and
Candy here
Who’s that lounging
In my chair
Who’s that casting
Devious stares
In my direction
Mama this surely
Is a dream
Mama this surely
Is a dream
Yeah mama this must
Be my dream
That is a lot of eye liner. And I never could figure out what the hell sex and candy smell like.. I mean… what the hell? I just imagine sweat and the smell of smarties or something…

Smarties? What about sweat and Necco Wafers?
Not sweet enough. I think of more of a nasty candy smell… Just the way the song seems. Sure as hell isn’t Reeses Peanut Butter Cups they are talking about.
Very provocative not to mention the obvious….’sweet’ lyrics & photo~

I was just listening to this song the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it. Love the photo, but I can’t say that’s what I envision hearing the song!

I loved that song back in the day. Now I feel like eating jelly beans.

@Michelle: It’s what Acadia envisions no matter what song is playing!
