Since kids are good at video games and most adults who have kids suck at them, the parents (and kids with bad hand / eye coordination) have made super complicated board games all the rage so the older folks can get their edge back. So the fact that there wasn’t a game made out of Buffy until now is a little surprising. Jasco Games is working with Lynnvander Studios to make the game. And the fact that you had no idea that there was a Jasco Games or a Lynnvander Studios should not make you feel out of touch. Nobody has heard of them.
But! The people that care about such things seem pretty excited. And I am sure the game will have a bunch of cards and tokens and complicated rules that will take the Slayer and Xander (now a mean drunk) and Willow et. al. around Sunnydale to do tasks and obtain…moon swatches or some such nonsense so you can enter the final stage of the game where you all join forces to make out with Spike. Or something.
I don’t know. I don’t make games. But they are all pretty much just like that. And within the first four times you play it the real competition will be who gets an ACTUAL game piece and who is stuck being the penny because you lost one of the guys. I hope Sarah Michelle Gellar gets some money out of this. Her career has not been going great since Buffy ended and she is STILL married to Freddie Prinze, Jr. STILL! Maybe if she rolls doubles she can get out of it.
I never got into the Buffy tv show but the movie is one of those I’ve seen like 100 times. It’s amazingly terrible and that makes it wonderful.
The show is great from season two on.
