Catalina Querida is a rookie to the Gallery WIHM event. She is a Filmmaker/Editor.

How have you fared during the pandemic?

Just staying creative in my home.

What’s been keeping you busy?

Finished editing our short film, The Torturer.

Finished editing my short, Cursed Item PSA.

Started Barker and Briefs, a series in which I read Clive Barker’s Books of Blood in lingerie. This is to take the place of monthly burlesque shows until it’s safe to do so.

Produced my husband’s first feature, Vicemares and took care of cast/crew on set.

What was your favorite piece of new horror media from the last year?

We had such fantastic offerings from Shudder!!

La Llorona was a beautiful piece of filmmaking and I truly appreciated they told the story from a place of respect for the character and the women of the country.

Blood Quantum gave us an interesting take on zombies and I loved hearing and seeing the indigenous lens of the tale.

Scare Me was just plain fun. Amazing that it’s a one location film with minimal actors but pulled off a compelling story.

What are you looking forward to most in the horror community for 2021?

Candyman. I’m a huge Clive Barker fan and I’m so excited to see what Nia DaCosta does with the franchise. It’s been needed to be told from a fresh perspective so I’m all about it.

What keeps from throwing in the towel when things get tough?

Burying myself in things I love. I love reading, theatre, art, and, of course, film. Reading quotes from the people who came before us is always inspiring to me. Things are tough now, but there’s always been times of doubt, just remembering that this isn’t how it will always be is helpful.

What projects do you have coming up?

Vicemares (post production)

Jericho Squad 77 a joint venture with Clive Barker Podcast
