Friday Nineties – Mortal Kombat

Acadia Einstein

The original Mortal Kombat caused a lot of controversy because of all the violence in it when it came out in the mid 90s.  And for good reason.  I remember a huge upswing in people throwing chains into their buddies’ necks while yelling “COME OVER HERE” and others turning their perfectly good limbs into robot parts.  As you can see from the video above, Scorpion taking off his hat and burning up Sub-Zero was super awesome at the time but now you can chop people in half which is a LOT better.  You can also do this.,

But who needs to watch gifs (or whatever a webm file is) when you can PLAY THE DAMN GAME.  That’s right.  You can be Johnny Cage and play the original Mortal Kombat right here on the site.  Who needs to spend 70 bucks for a damn game when you can play it for free on here!  Even if it is 20 years old or so.  I bet if you found a willing 20 year old sex partner you would not be complaining about how simplistic the controls are or the graphics are bad.  Spoiled brats.  Now….FIGHT!

I have run the site since 2005. And I have to say I am pretty damn proud of it. I wrote the book Whalewolf (sold on and am not even close to tired so I am just going to keep going. I was born in Portland, Maine and I currently live in New York and Charlotte, North Carolina. I keep hoping that at some point all these weird rebels are gonna say: "SURPRISE!" and act normal. Eight years and counting....

I loved this game and my parents were super cool because they let all of us play it, even my 10 year old brother. I LOVED THE FATALITIES. Also this is the one kind of video game I’m pretty decent at so I could actually win sometimes.

I’ve only played MK4, and it was the best. Why don’t you have MK4 instead? BOO!
