Our Conversation with MEL HEFLIN

Mel is a horror actress, fx assist, and does voiceover, and she is a veteran this year!

Which of your achievements to date are you most proud of?

I was on the cover of WiHM edition of Malevolent Magazine, but I think I’m most proud of what I’m told when I audition for a role.

What’s your favorite horror film and why?

I really love Zombeavers. It’s one of those perfect mixes of campy and scary.

Who is your hero in the horror world and why?

Elvira of course! She’s unapologetic and after having my photo with her I’m honored how many friends asked if we were related. What a giant compliment for me!

Share a practical tip for a woman who wants to do what you do.

Get in the shower with all of your blood soaked clothes on. If the blood dried and you try to peel it without soaking it first it will rip some skin off depending on the type of fake blood.

Inspire someone who is not where they want to be in the industry yet.

There is no “big break” It’s a million little ones, keep going.

Scare the crap out of us with something you have done or plan on doing!

I once did a blood orgy scene for Manna (A segment of The Prophane Exhibit) It was so cold that day the blood froze to my skin (It looked beautiful and had a lovely glossy sheen) I was saturated and nude. I had “bloodsickles” hanging from my nips. Imagine being naked bloody and frozen. It was good times with good friends, but coooooooooold!
