Some might say the idea of a good guy with a gun jumping in to save the day with their pistol in a place where we really don’t need pistols is a myth. A woman catching a hot one to the gut in Renton, Washington dispels this myth.

Quotes from KOMONews:

RENTON, Wash. – A 40-year-old woman was seriously injured Thursday when she was shot in the chest inside a Renton movie theater, police said.

The shooting happened at around 8 p.m. at a movie theater at the The Landing in Renton during a showing of the film “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.”

There are a lot of films out these days where you better believe you need to walk into that film strapped. Would you try to go see The Revenant not packing? That’s crazy talk. Haven’t you heard about that Bear scene? Who is going to protect Leonardo DiCaprio? Djimon Hounsou couldn’t even pull that task off in Blood Diamond, and you think you can walk into a theater without a weapon? Please.

Another film you damn sure better believe calls for you holsterin’ up arms is 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.

And, one such Patriot did so. This Patriot did what he had to do when he saw the trailer for 13 Hours. He remarked, “damn, they really think Jim from the Office is going to stop all these dang terrorists? No. I don’t think so. Where’s my Remington?” And, he strapped up.

Things in the theater were calm for a moment.

“It got about 15-20 minutes into the film and I believe the lady in front of us that got shot was actually talking to her husband or significant other and that’s when we heard the loud pop,”

The proverbial loud pop of freedom.

Renton police believe the shooter may have been intoxicated at the time.

And, like most patriots, he was drunk. Have you ever seen Samuel Adams sober? You have not.

Medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center, according to Renton fire officials. She was listed in serious condition on Friday morning.

Serious condition in a hospital. All because there was a good guy with a gun at the movies with this lucky woman. If he had not been there with his handgun, would she be in serious condition at the Medical Center? No one can say for certain. There’s a chance that she would be in a morgue. Dead from a car accident on the drive home because she tried to pull off a Michael Bay stunt. She’s not dead. She’s in serious condition because of this goddamned hero.

The real travesty here? Where were the other good guys and their guns? Why did no other Patriots take to arms in the theater to protect those around them? If there had only been a second good guy with a gun on scene, we could have avoided some other damage from this incident.

Police say the shooter’s father called 911 Thursday night from his Newcastle home and told dispatchers his son was distraught and told him that he dropped his gun at a Renton movie theater and it discharged. The 29-year-old is now in custody.

Wow, a distraught 29-year-old. If only someone else would have had a gun in that theater. Then, maybe they would have returned fire at this 29-year-old.

Dead men ain’t distressed. Something to think about.
