New Jersey Horror Con – Fan Review

New Jersey Horror Con – Fan Review

We have another fantastic fan review, this one of the New Jersey Horror Con! It was sent to us by the awesome Kay Kizzle, who has an amazing cosplay presence on both Facebook and Instagram (check ‘em out!!).

Please tell a little about yourself and your cosplaying work!

I’m Kay Kizzle Cosplay. I have been cosplaying since I was 6 and I’m 11 now. Last year was a break out year for me since I did my half and half Harley Quinn cosplay and then Annabelle. I’ve been featured at Itz-A-Con, Philly Comics and Cosplay Day, Kid Con and Cosplay for a Cause. I’m Philadelphia’s first junior Cosplayer and I love cosplaying because I can spend more time with my father. 🙂

WHAT CON DID YOU GO TO? WAS IT YOUR FIRST TIME ATTENDING?

New Jersey Horror Con, and this was my first time attending.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO GO? A PARTICULAR GUEST OR GUESTS? A PANEL? COSPLAY?

I love horror! The people attending (fans) are so accepting of me and my cosplays that I had to try this one out as well.

WHAT WERE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS AT THE CON?

This con was spread out cool, where you can walk among the celebrities and not even know unless you were a hardcore fan. Plus everyone from the vendors to the celebrity guests were very approachable. My father and I had multiple conversations with celebrities and it felt like we were friends for a long time, not strangers just meeting. That was cool! Prices were reasonable for food, and things to buy. The volunteers were knowledgeable and helped us when we needed help. The way they spread out the celebrities and vendors was very cool and organized. All in all, I enjoyed the con very much!

WHAT COULD THEY IMPROVE ON, IF ANYTHING?

More cosplayers attending, and more cosplayers having their own tables. That would be really cool.

WHAT’S YOUR NEXT CON?

I was thinking of New York Comic Con!

About The Author

Jackie Torrance

Jackie Torrance grew up in the cornfields of the American Midwest near Gatlin, Nebraska. She was a small, strange child with an affinity for playing near the sewers and setting things on fire. However, as she aged, the plainness and quiet of the Midwest failed to satisfy Jackie's growing yearning for adventure, and on the night of her senior prom, she stole her boyfriend's vintage 1958 Plymouth Fury, and headed out west to Colorado. There she spent several weeks hiking in the mountains and writing a novel whilst staying at the Overlook Hotel. Upon the completion of said novel, she restarted her roadtrip and drove east until she reached Maine. After living a few years in the town of Derry working as a librarian, she relocated to Castle Rock, where she is currently employed as a reporter for the Daily Call. In all seriousness, I'm a Midwestern girl in her senior year of college to get a major in film studies and a minor in screenwriting. I enjoy reading books, listening to classic rock, writing, and drinking whiskey. The only thing true about the above bio is that there's a cornfield across from my house.

I would never in a million years think an 11 year old could do that good of a cosplay. 5 stars! And I miss that con. 🙁
