"Why did it take Acadia 15 years to realize this song was about him?"
I have to be honest, the only reason I was doing this song this week because it was as opposite to Humpty Dance as I could think of. I also like doing songs that people know but don’t know. Everyone knows the chorus of this song but I admit I had never paid any attention to the verses until tonight (I do extensive research) and now I realize that Sophie B. Hawkins really loves me.
She is all dramatic and if you watch the video you will see that at one point she seems to get a headache. She is so torn up on those steps while she is wearing the skirt with the tights that it can’t be acting. She has to be singing directly to me. How she got on the set of Sesame Street I don’t know but it is pretty obvious that the steps part has nothing to do with the rest of the video. In the rest of the video she’s in a tree for fuck’s sake. And she’s wearing one glove. She SUCKS in the actual video. She’s awesome when she is singing to me from the steps. That’s real. And she knew right how to win me: be earnest and profess her love and wear tights. Why don’t you do that? It worked for Sophie. And Ice T. But Ice T. won’t admit it now. I miss him. Ice T called me last night. He said he wants his pictures of Mr. Sillycheeks back. Who is Mr. Sillycheeks? I don’t think I want to know. As for Sophie, she doesn’t wear tights anymore. I think it’s cos you broke her heart.
She loves me. The girl that sings all piney like that is the one that gets me!
What a sappy song. I want to punch someone or something.
I don’t know that I have ever prayed for serious. Like, puking doesn’t count. That’s under drunken duress.
This is one of those songs I consider a soundtrack to my youth. As I told Acadia, I use to rollerskate to this song.
These lyrics need an insulin chaser. But “Barefoot barely breathing” I guess I can giver her points for alliteration…
